We are the Data Fiduciary responsible for your personal data under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act").

This policy covers the website (the-livingroom.in) and the application form (apply.the-livingroom.in) - i.e. before you become a member. Once you become a member, additional data (payments, bookings, access/biometric data) is processed under our Membership Agreement & Privacy Policy.

What We Collect

  1. When you browse the website: IP address, device and browser information, pages and actions, and referral / UTM information, via cookies and analytics.

B. You make an enquiry or join the waitlist: Name, email, phone no. and any details you choose to share.

C. You complete the application form: Name, date of birth (to confirm you are 22+), phone / WhatsApp number, email, LinkedIn / Instagram, portfolio link, your written reflections, and your assessment answers.

We collect this directly from you when you fill in a form, and automatically when you use the website (via cookies and analytics).

Why We Use It & Our Legal Basis

We use this data to:

  • send you the application acknowledgement and updates about your application;

  • respond to your enquiries;

  • understand and improve how our website works;

  • keep our sites secure and prevent misuse; and

We rely on your consent (which you give by submitting a form or opting into marketing/analytics), on taking steps at your request before any membership contract, and on legitimate uses permitted under the DPDP Act (such as security and legal compliance).

  • If you are invited and become a member, we retain your data for the duration of your membership (and a reasonable period afterwards), as described in our Membership Privacy Policy.

  • Enquiry and marketing data is kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.

How We Protect It

We use technical and organisational safeguards including access controls, need-to-know staff access, and secrets management. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and review our practices regularly.

Your Rights

Under the DPDP Act you may access the data we hold about you; correct or complete it; request its erasure; withdraw consent at any time; nominate someone to exercise your rights on your behalf; and raise a grievance with us and escalate to the Data Protection Board of India if unresolved.

Age

The application and our Services are intended for adults 22 years of age or older and are not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us data, contact us and we will remove it.

Marketing

With your consent, we may send you updates about The Living Room, events, and membership by email. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email or by contacting us. Transactional messages (such as your application acknowledgement) are not marketing.

Becoming a Member

If your application is successful and you choose to join, we will process additional data — including payment information (via Razorpay), bookings, and access/biometric data — as described in our Membership Agreement & Privacy Policy
